Antonio Moreno. Pumuki
Drummer. Percussionist. Sound Technician. Music Producer. Multidisciplinary Artist
About Me
Antonio Moreno Pumuki was born in Cieza (Murcia). From a young age he had an intense bond with the arts, and most especially with music. In the late 80s he formed a group with six other artists and began creating his own compositions.
Antonio later moved to Madrid to study sound engineering. It was there that he encountered the capital’s flamenco scene, and began working as a percussionist and sound engineer for great flamenco artists such as Enrique Morente, Raimundo Amador, Tomatito, Diego "El Cigala", Estrella Morente, Josemi Carmona, Jorque Pardo, Carles Benavent, Piraña, Bandolero and Chano Domínguez. Antonio toured with various established flamenco companies as a sound and lighting technician to numerous countries and cities such as Moscow, Nimes, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Panama, Brazil and Colombia.
In the year 2000, Antonio began performing as a percussionist and drummer in the flamenco scene in Madrid, and worked with many of its most prevalent artists.
During this time he was also involved with the recording of 15 CDs, alternating between working as a musical composer and a producer.
For the past 5 years Antonio has been living in Berlin, where he has been continuing to further his musical career, working in various musical genres including flamenco, tango, funk, rock, pop and electronic music. Since his arrival he has also recorded two albums – for one of which he was the musical producer and curator, has played in concerts and videos with many different bands, worked in video and audio production and post-production for the Humboldt Big Band Berlin, and worked as audio recorder and acting representor in the film "Der Nowak" by Pao Alvarez and Manuel Escorihuela. He has assisted numerous artists who were invited to perform by the Embassy of Spain of Berlin as a sound technician, including Carmen Paris, Raimundo Amador and many others ..
As an artist, Antonio is constantly seeking originality and looking for new things to contribute, and is often drawn towards the fusion of seemingly contradictory artistic styles. His incessant search has led him to devote himself in recent times to design audio for dance and above all synchronize electronic compositions with experimental flamenco.
This search also drives him to keep moving and discovering new territories.
Currently he plays in almost all the flamenco scene in Berlin, he also plays in some world music projects.
Recently he teaches some classes on flamenco rhythms and percussion at Centro Flamenco Berlin by Raphaela Stern.
